“Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.” - Luke 3:11
Pabama: (Rhymes with Alabama) Def: A feeling that there is more. A desire to make a difference, to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Not willing to accept the current state of the world, and not wishing to point any fingers. The burning desire to improve, to fall and fail, to be picked up and try again. To prepare ourselves for eternity. To stand triumphant one day, only through Jesus, and hear, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

What connects you to God?

I am referencing an old post here (which means I have nothing new and/or interesting to say ...): http://thepabamaknights.blogspot.com/2011/09/devotions-or-flossing.html So what does it for you? How do you connect with God? For me, it's things like being on the water, and out in nature, it's setting a crazy goal and working towards it. These things help bring me alive for God? What does it for you?

Interesting quote I ran across:

"Do you believe everything you read online? Of course not! Do you believe everything you watch on tv? No. Do you believe everything you read in the newspaper and in People magazine? No. Why do we spend more time reading and watching what we know is a lie than reading what we know is the truth?" - Rick Warren

John 8:31-32,“If you abide in my Word, then you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (NKJV).

One of the highlights of the month for me is the Pabama! run. It feels so great to be plugged into God and serving him. Another awesome run (Cheese, thanks for the pictures!)

Some highlights:
- Family struggling with relationships and finances
- We were able to bless them with non-food items to help with the budget
- 10 guys circled in prayer inside the entrance to Meijers - Pabama!!!
- Black Thunder brought a new member - Welcome to 'Koosh'! (Come'on, you can figure that one out!)
- New ?signature? of the group - The $10 Wesco popcorn bag? (If you reverse the letters of 'bag', and then flip the 'b', and then replace the 'a' with an 'o' you have 'God' .... coincidence?)
- Prayers felt from Knights not in attendance - Thank you!
- Official Fuel - Herm's poop balls! You rock Herm!
- Most important - I am confident God was able to use our strange, small actions for his glory!!!

"I love it when HIS plan comes together!"

R.C. Sproul - Pabama comment

From 'Right Now Counts Forever'

We simply need to forget about trying to see the fruit of our service immediately. It does not matter if we ever see it. We are called to take the light and let it shine, then let God do whatever he pleases. - R.C. Sproul

What's eating Ruby?

Too crazy not to share . . .

So Ruby wakes up with a few red 'bites' on her one morning.  We don't think a lot about it, maybe some spiders found her at night.  After all, she is a 'sweet' girl!  The next day, quite a few bites . . . we start to wonder.  We quickly look at her bed, but don't see anything.  She is itching some, but it's not too bad.  A few days, no bites!  Then suddenly, all sorts of bites all over her back, 20+ spots!  Well, we did stay at a hotel over Spring Break  . . . . bed bugs?  So we scour the internet for information, and we learn how to look for them.  We search, and nothing, not a trace.  I take a flashlight in while she is sleeping.  We take the bed apart multiple times . . . Maybe fleas?  Chicken pox?  Rash from new laundry soap?

The spots fade, but new ones keep coming.  We have to do something!  We finally call an exterminator for a free inspection.  He looks at Ruby's back, and says 'Wow!'.  He inspects, and concludes.  'With that many bites we would see bed bugs or fleas even while just standing here.'  So, it's not bed bugs, or fleas . . . good, but what is it?

Back to the Dr. for Ruby!  He has to pull out the book to confirm, but another uncommon (0.14% in women) harmless illness - Pityriasis Rosea.  Basically a rash that lasts 4+ weeks and then goes away . . . .

At this rate, Ruby is going to make it into some medical journals . . . .

Where do you find happiness?

At Covenant Life Church's annual "Day to Shine"event, I am pleased to let you all know that I found something that everyone is looking for.  Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I found HAPPINESS!  I was so excited as I was picking up trash at Griffin elementary school Sunday.  There, deep under some bushes, was a scrap of paper with one word on it - happiness.  It actually looked a lot like the photo above.

What a great reminder from God:  when we serve others, we will indeed find true happiness.

Praise Jesus and Pabama!

Can our Lives be Green Again?

Can Our Lives Be Green Again?
Can it really happen? Can things in our lives be green again? No matter what our creeds may tell us, our hearts have settled into another belief. We have accepted the winter of this world as the final word and tried to get on without the hope of spring. It will never come, we have assumed, and so I must find whatever life here I can. We have been so committed to arranging for our happiness that we have missed the signs of spring. We haven't given any serious thought to what might be around the corner. Were eternity to appear tomorrow, we would be as shocked as I have been with the return of spring this week, only more so. Our practical agnosticism would be revealed. Pascal declared,

Our imagination so powerfully magnifies time, by continual reflections upon it, and so diminishes eternity . . . for want of reflection, that we make a nothing of eternity and an eternity of nothing.

But of course we aspire to happiness we can enjoy now. Our hearts have no place else to go. We have made a nothing of eternity. If I told you that your income would triple next year, and that European vacation you've wanted is just around the corner, you'd be excited, hopeful. The future would look promising. It seems possible, desirable. But our ideas of heaven, while possible, aren't all that desirable. Whatever it is we think is coming in the next season of our existence, we don't think it is worth getting all that excited about. We make a nothing of eternity by enlarging the significance of this life and by diminishing the reality of what the next life is all about.

Desire (John Eldredge) 110-111
