“Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.” - Luke 3:11
Pabama: (Rhymes with Alabama) Def: A feeling that there is more. A desire to make a difference, to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Not willing to accept the current state of the world, and not wishing to point any fingers. The burning desire to improve, to fall and fail, to be picked up and try again. To prepare ourselves for eternity. To stand triumphant one day, only through Jesus, and hear, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

Pray without ceasing?

Bravo on some wonderful additions fellas.  I love the videos (except maybe for Dyk's blockbuster video recommendations).  One other thing I added is a list of prayer requests.  Please keep these things in your regular prayer rotation, and by all means, let's keep adding to the list and utilizing prayer in our battle against the devil.

One request:  I seem to be struggling in my own personal prayer life.  Any suggestions?  Good books, etc.  Some accountability?  It's just not one of my stregnths.

Keep the heads up knights!  See you Thursday.

Stay Radical!

He did right in the sight of the LORD

Who says the old testament is a bunch of non sense? (Dyk?)
On my journey through the OT I do get frustrated with crazy names and stories I don't totaly get. Then the whole Jesus button thing... I think one of the passages said "Clausing, Get some Nuts!" I forgot to highlight it so I can't find it again.
Here is what I did highlight- several verses in 2 Kings 21-24. It was a very humbling realization and call to duty for DAD's.
-Amon did evil in the sight of the Lord, as Manasseh his FATHER had done...
-For he walked in all the way that his Father had walked

Jehoahaz did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his Fathers had done.
Jehoiakim diddo
Jehoiachin diddo
Zedekiah diddo

The dumb names and the fact that these were kings should not excuse us as FATHERS to ignore these OT verses. Insert your kids' name or your name and the name of your father. THE POINT IS = we have a giant responsibility to Model the Love of Christ to our families.

Josiah did right in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of his father David, nor did he turn aside to the right or the left

Now you know why Pabama is key - we need the support of other Dads to help in being role models for our kids

The Power of a Pie

It's very easy for me to allow myself to get busy, but lately God has me asking myself if I am busy with the best stuff.  The excuse I rely on is that 'someday I will have more time' and then I will do that big important world changing stuff for God.  I look ahead 10 years at parents with teenagers, another 10 years to college, and in reality that day is not coming.  What can I do today, does it have to be 'world changing'?  Todd Riemersma reminded us of what a difference a small action can make, and I ran across another story.  Someone baked a pie, nothing more (I like baking pies, so this really hit home with me!), and this is response:

"I want to thank you and you family for you kindness yesterday. It renewed my faith in mankind. It was so moving that your family was so concerned that they made me the wonderful apple pie. You are correct that all things are possible through prayer and thank you for reminding me of that. I was at a birthday party after you left yesterday and I was telling the story about what you and your family did for me and tears were streaming down my cheeks I was so moved. You should be very proud of your family as you can tell you have instilled good values.
Again thank you do much for your thoughtfulness. You will never know how much it meant to me. "

My favorite part, I don't think the recipient was a Christian.

Moms say, "Make your bed" - God says, "Make someone else's"

Some Knights had an opportunity to get dusty cutting wood, gluing wood, and assembling wood to create parts of 66 beds that will be used in the local community! Nice work Knights passing on God's light through a 3rd floor workshop!  PS: Someone needs a haircut!

Men of Honor study

Hey Guys,
Nice job on the blog site Sternberg, this is my first-ever post too but I'm not yet 40!  I wanted to share a potential study guide that might prove useful for us down the road.  Just to practice my blogging skills, I've also added it to the list at right.  Here is a link to a page that shares some more detail.  And here's a picture....and no, I didn't alter the cover either!! Crazy huh?  Guess we're meant to do it sometime....

A blog! Wow, now that's Pabama!

Thanks to Sternberger for setting this up, I now feel younger than 40, I am posting in a blog!  Not sure what I am supposed to do . . . but for breakfast I had a mix of Life and Special K . . . then some coffee . . . or wait, is that what I am supposed to do for Facebook . . . or was it Twitter.  Sternberg - Help!

All seriousness aside:  I am praying this for each and every one of you today:  ' Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything.  Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.  If you do this, you will experince God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.  His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.'

And that's Pabama!

Stuff

Hey, make sure you check out the stuff (and add to it) on the right side of this page.  Just a way to collect everyone's ideas for the future, etc.  If you would rather just email me ideas or whatever, I can add it.  Also, in case you need some motivation, check out the video or the links to other sites.

Welcome

Welcome to the Pabama Knights blog.  Many good things will hopefully come from this.  More later.
