“Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.” - Luke 3:11
Pabama: (Rhymes with Alabama) Def: A feeling that there is more. A desire to make a difference, to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Not willing to accept the current state of the world, and not wishing to point any fingers. The burning desire to improve, to fall and fail, to be picked up and try again. To prepare ourselves for eternity. To stand triumphant one day, only through Jesus, and hear, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

Do You Want to Be Destroyed?

Simple quote, kinda floored me....

We can, like the Philistines, choose a god we know to be false simply because it is safe and we don’t want to be destroyed. Or we can welcome the holy destruction of sin and every root of it in our hearts as we allow God to do His work.

Two Good Things + Alejandro!

[WARNING: This is a REALLY long post.  Grab your favorite cup o' joe and curl up for the story...]

2nd Corinthians 9:12-15
So two good things will result from this ministry of giving - the needs of the believers in Jerusalem will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanks to God.
As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God.  For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ.  And they will pray for you with deep affection because of the overflowing grace God has given to you.  Thank God for this gift, too wonderful for words!

This was a motive check for me.  My aim in giving - especially Pabama-style giving - should be for these two good things: meet a physical need that will lead to the recipient worshiping God in joyful thanksgiving.  Our benefit?  The people we serve will pray for us with deep affection.

I can definitely get behind that list as a set of goals for our crew, I just sometimes need reminded....which leads me to Alejandro...

Work to be Done, and We Must Do It

Have I ever mentioned Oswald Chambers?  Well, if not, you should check him out:  utmost.org

Basically every day he will kick your buns with truth.  Biblical truth.  It hurts pretty bad, but in the background it is o' so sweet . . . .

Today had a sentence that struck me in light of Thursday's run:

In Christian work our initiative and motivation are too often simply the result of realizing that there is work to be done and that we must do it. Yet that is never the attitude of a spiritually vigorous saint. His aim is to achieve the realization of Jesus Christ in every set of circumstances.

With sore buns I start to think . . . so what do you think?  How do we realize Jesus during a pack-n-move?

Add up God's Law and the Prophets

"Here is a simple, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them. Add up God's Law and Prophets and this is what you get." - Matthew 7:12 MSG

Why don't I pay more attention to the Cliff Notes, where it says things like "Add up God's Law and the Prophets and this is what you get."?

Pabama International

Hola from Honduras (although I am back),

Gentlemen, meet Manuel (in red) and Alex.  While working one day in Honduras, Manuel started talking to me (thank goodness in English!).  He mentioned that what we were doing is pretty cool and reminded him of a book he had been reading.  I asked about it and he said it was by an American preacher named David Platt.  I said, "is it called Radical?!?!?"  He got a huge smile, I got a huge smile, and the bond had begun.  Guys, there is a group down in Honduras doing a book study on Radical (Los Pabamanos Knightos).  Gave me chills when I realized this connection.

And now for the exciting announcement:

A guy named Charles (Chuck from now on because it is more fun to say and he is ok with it) mentioned that he would like to purchase a piece of land in a remote village in Honduras called La Union (where we put water filters in.  It is right by the church compound where we stayed).  He mentioned that if they got this land that he would like to build an office/apartment there for volunteers to stay in.

Soooooo, let the prayers begin.  If anyone is interested in being Radical, we will possibly start planning this soon.  The trip would probably be next summer.

Also, continue to look for more photos and stories from this past week.  God definitely blessed us, and I look forward to passing those stories on to you all.

Good to be back!

Miguel

Good Morning –

Thank you so much for your part in the van purchase and little miracle for the family.  God through you all provided almost $10,700 for this project, which purchased this family a handicap van with 58k miles on it and provided some gas money for them! We serve an amazing God and to see Him work through His servants here on earth to make this happen this past week has been an amazing faith building experience. To God be the glory. It was so neat to be watching from afar Friday night and see the folks reactions, they gave the glory to God and wanted to dedicate the van to the Lord as soon as they received it.  One of my friends snapped the pictures attached for me.  We probably will never know the whole story till we get to heaven, but the Lord taught me a lot through this experience that we don’t have to know the whole story. Our job is to seek Him and every day follow His leadings in our lives and obey Him, because He always knows the whole story.

Hebrews 11:6 “But without Faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is the rewarder of all those who seek Him.”

God Bless and Thanks Again,

Wade

Who is that on the pulpit??

Thank God for inspiring Dyk to deliver an awesome message this morning at Covenant Life Church. Do we really "delight" the word of God? Do we "meditate" on it day and night? This is the inspired word of God and we should be craving it daily. Where does the word of God fall in priority when put up against the desires of this world? Dyk gave some great perspective on the bible and why we should be in love with it. This was truly a great message from God and an eye opener for all of us.
I wish I had done this during the message but "AMEN BROTHER!!" It is not uploaded yet but if you want to listen for yourself check this link to the CLC podcasts.... http://www.ghclc.org/multi_media/clc_sermons_online

PABAMA!!!
