We can, like the Philistines, choose a god we know to be false simply because it is safe and we don’t want to be destroyed. Or we can welcome the holy destruction of sin and every root of it in our hearts as we allow God to do His work.

Wow, that is a deep thought. Welcome in the holy destruction of sin . . . what a scary thought . . . at least on the surface . . . to my safety, comfort loving self. But if my goal is to praise and worship God. And if God is holy, and cannot stand sin or have sin in his presence, then anything that moves me down to the path toward sanctification, and the removal of this sin from my life and actions, should be welcomed. Do I have the nuts to do it???
