I want to give an update from last nights SERVE project. While it wasn't one of much man-power, we were still able to come through with a very nice gift for the VanIwaarden family. We dropped off, undetected, an apple crisp dessert with a $275 gift card to Meijer!! Thanks to Jim Baker who was the lone ranger in driving down from Grand Haven and for bringing some cash given by others. Dale from my study group here in Holland also came to Meijer to give to the cause. Sorry to those two guys that we didn't have much "work" to do on this one but thanks to you for coming and thanks to the many others who gave to the cause in their absence. Glory to God was given!
Baker and my daughter Sara, who were in the "drop-zone" for this one relayed that one of the 5 girls came to the door followed by dad who was heard saying, (in a nice tone), "I'm going to find out who did this!" And that's when he thinks it's just a silly dessert! Good luck Dan on that investigation too by the way. ;) Baker and Sara were pretty stealth among the floodlights, pine trees, and the heavy rains!
Stay tuned to the blog and email for the upcoming 2nd mission for this family. We are still brainstorming ways we can provide for a few hours away for Dan and DJ. We are thinking we will provide funds for a dinner out for the two of them while we care for their children and grandmother. We're thinking a 4-5 hour timeframe on a Saturday afternoon/evening.
Sara just loves seeing us serve others and being a part of it. She asked last night soon after the drop-off, "Why don't you guys do this more often? I love PABAMA'n people!" Good question Sara......
